Lovely, traditional corner pub in Holborn. An unpretentious boozer selling a couple of well-kept cask ales; Landlord and Ghost Ship at the time of my visit. Plus other drinks and traditional pub grub.
Popped in mid-afternoon during a lull in customers and had a good chat about the history of the pub, with the old clock, photograph and text description being pointed out to me. The text reads:
'THE DOLPHIN TAVERN - hit by an H.E. Bomb dropped by Zepp L.13. on the 9th of Sept 1915. 3 men were killed. The old clock was recovered with the hands stopped at 10.40 p.m. - the time the tavern was hit.' (HE = high explosive.)
I love unspoilt, traditional pubs. Definitely worth a visit.
Great little pub, very relaxing place with a couple of good ales on draught.
A lovely small pub on a corner with lots of pictures , photographs and memorabilia adorning the walls .. With a nice selection of real ales on offer it was a delight to visit ..
A little cracker. Lovely traditional pub. The way pubs should be.
Gorgeous pub full of character and history, one of the best in Bloomsbury
It is what it is. A very traditional back street boozer, basic but clean and well presented. Beer was good, service prompt and polite. Shame about the roadworks but that is hardly the fault of the pub!
Proper old London pub with its original layout. No food. Just great beer and friendly service
Great historic independent pub - a rarity in London. Good prices and atmosphere. Not filled with man-bun wearing, craft beer drinking tech start up types. This is a pub that deserves your support if you like the idea of independent pubs still existing in London
